Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, stated that the state prioritizes development in Upper Egypt governorates to improve citizens' quality of life and boost economic growth. Her comments came during a meeting with the head of the Upper Egypt Development Authority to enhance joint cooperation. These initiatives aim to create jobs and upgrade public services.
Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, emphasized that the state is placing significant focus on developing Upper Egypt's governorates to raise living standards and foster economic expansion. She explained that these initiatives are designed to generate employment, enhance living conditions, and improve public services.
Awad made these statements during a meeting with Amr Abdel Moneim, head of the Upper Egypt Development Authority, where they discussed methods to bolster joint efforts as part of the government's strategy for comprehensive regional development. The minister highlighted her ministry's dedication to collaborating with various government bodies to achieve institutional synergy, in accordance with the Prime Minister's instructions to execute high-priority projects that yield quick economic and social benefits for Upper Egypt's communities.
In the meeting, Abdel Moneim presented an overview of completed projects that have been transferred to relevant authorities in multiple governorates. Eight such projects were handed over to ministries, governorates, and other entities, encompassing poultry production facilities, industrial complexes, sugarcane seedling programs, veterinary units, and handicraft clusters. Further complexes have been prepared for investment opportunities.
Abdel Moneim also underscored the Authority's emphasis on broadening partnerships with public and private sector players, including the execution of cooperation protocols with investors and government organizations for several development projects in Upper Egypt. Awad reaffirmed the ministry's resolve to leverage the region's competitive edges, natural resources, and human potential to expedite progress and address residents' needs in essential sectors. She mentioned continuous coordination with the Authority on key programs, such as the Upper Egypt Local Development Programme and the presidential Decent Life initiative, with a focus on bolstering economic clusters and advancing agro-industrial and manufacturing sectors to create jobs and secure a respectable quality of life for inhabitants, aligning with the political leadership's guidance.
