The 39th African Union Leaders Summit has concluded successfully in Addis Ababa. The summit was held under the theme of ensuring sustainable water supply and protected sanitation systems to achieve Agenda 2063 goals. Addis Ababa's administration has hailed the city's preparations as a major contribution to the summit's success.
The 39th African Union Leaders Ordinary Summit, held in Addis Ababa, concluded successfully on February 15, 2018. The two-day event featured discussions and the adoption of various decisions.
The summit was convened under the guiding theme of ensuring sustainable water supply and protected sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063. Leaders deliberated on issues from the 48th African Union Executive Council Ordinary Session. Among the key agendas were water security and sanitation improvement, implementation of Agenda 2063 and regional integration, social and economic development, human resource development, institutional and financial reforms, future partnerships, and Africa's role in the global architecture.
Additionally, the 2nd Tariku-Africa Summit was reported to have taken place with great enthusiasm and success. The Addis Ababa City Administration, through Mayor Adanech Abaye, stated that Ethiopian hospitality and the city's impressive preparations provided a major boost to the summits. She noted that the events were organized in a perfectly successful manner in our capital Addis Ababa. Residents expressed appreciation for the hospitality, traffic management, cooperation, and high-quality services provided.
Mayor Adanech Abaye said, "By dressing our city in a new face and spirit, you have made this summit successful—our city officials and workers, in collaboration with residents, have contributed selflessly. On behalf of myself and the city administration, I extend my profound gratitude to the security forces for their efforts." She particularly thanked individuals and institutions from Kazanchis to Bole Brass for their support and dedication.
