The Ministry of Education has launched Phase One of the Digital Literacy Programme targeting 10,382 public junior secondary schools.
Basic Education Principal Secretary John Lekakeny Ololtuaa announced the launch during the handover of a school bus to Racecourse Senior Comprehensive School in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, on Wednesday, July 15.
The phase targets learners in Grades 7, 8 and 9 under the Competency-Based Curriculum. Schools will receive smart boards that enable teachers to use videos, animations and multimedia content.
The government will also roll out a solar power programme to ensure reliable electricity. Uasin Gishu County will see 215 junior secondary schools benefit in this first phase.
