Deutsche Telekom partners with ElevenLabs for AI phone assistant

Deutsche Telekom, the German mobile provider and majority owner of T-Mobile in the US, is launching an AI assistant integrated directly into phone calls on its network in Germany. The partnership with AI audio company ElevenLabs introduces the Magenta AI Call Assistant, which requires no app or specific device. Users can opt in to access features like live language translation during calls.

Deutsche Telekom is rolling out a new AI feature for its customers in Germany through a collaboration with ElevenLabs, an AI audio specialist. The Magenta AI Call Assistant will be embedded directly into the network's phone calls, making it accessible without downloading an app or needing a particular smartphone model.

This initiative targets Deutsche Telekom's domestic users, with availability limited to Germany for the time being. The assistant provides audible support during conversations, including real-time language translation for those who choose to activate it. As the majority stakeholder in T-Mobile US, Deutsche Telekom leverages its position in the global telecom sector to innovate in voice AI.

The announcement aligns with discussions at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), highlighting advancements in cell networks and voice assistants. Keywords associated with the development include smartphones, artificial intelligence, and carriers. Published details indicate the feature's introduction on March 3, 2026, emphasizing seamless integration into everyday calls.

ElevenLabs' expertise in AI-generated audio enables the assistant's natural-sounding interactions. Opt-in participation ensures user control over the technology's involvement in personal communications.
