Minister Deta Akilu Tadesse (Dr.) from the Prime Minister's Office stated that Gondar city is gaining more prominence through historical works. This was said during a visit to Fasil Abayate Mengist and corridor development projects in the city. The federal government assured the continuation of efforts to develop Amhara region's tourism areas.
Addis Ababa, Ketit 9, 2018 (Fana) – During a visit to Fasil Abayate Mengist and corridor development works in Gondar city, Minister Deta Akilu Tadesse (Dr.) from the Prime Minister's Office for Sectors and National Projects Monitoring stated that the city's historical aspects are gaining more prominence.
The minister remarked, 'Gondar city is being more highlighted by historical works,' and noted that the federal government will continue efforts to develop and promote tourism destinations in the Amhara region. Citing Gondar as an example among Ethiopian cities, he emphasized the importance of involving the community in advancing higher-level projects.
Separately, the Debremark University management board evaluated the six-month performance for 2018. Board member Deta Akilu (Dr.) stated that the institution has achieved better outcomes in teaching and research activities. Efforts to improve student performance and increase internal revenue will continue.
University President Asmamaw Zegye (Dr.) highlighted progress in key sectors and the initiation of development and promotion works for the Simen Mountains National Park. He noted that close collaboration with the North Gondar Zone administration will make the tourism sector more effective.
