Maharashtra extends bar hours for FIFA World Cup final

The Maharashtra government has allowed licensed hotels, restaurants and bars to stay open until 4 a.m. on Monday for the FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.

The Home Department issued the order on Saturday following a request from the National Restaurant Association of India in Mumbai. The directive applies only to the final match and covers only licensed establishments under the Maharashtra Police Act.

Establishments must deploy private security to avoid traffic issues and maintain order. They are required to follow all licence conditions set by the Excise Department and local authorities.

District administrations and police will oversee compliance. Operations must end immediately after 4 a.m., and violations will lead to legal action.
