Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held a warm bilateral meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at Qasr Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The discussions aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and the UAE, particularly in investments, energy, infrastructure, and economic development.
MBZ invited six other Emirate rulers to receive Prabowo, honoring him by seating him among the seven UAE leaders. The event proceeded with an iftar, or breaking of the fast, followed by congregational Maghrib prayers. Traditional UAE dishes like Al Machboos—spiced basmati rice cooked with meat and dried limes—were served.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated, “The meeting discussed cooperation to increase investments. Bilateral relations will be enhanced. The UAE wants to increase its investments in Indonesia.” The one-on-one meeting lasted over an hour, covering strengthened energy cooperation and future economic partnerships.
The gathering coincided with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-UAE diplomatic relations in 2026, marking a new phase of more comprehensive collaboration. Prabowo welcomed the UAE's investment commitments and affirmed Indonesia's readiness for a conducive investment climate.
Accompanying Prabowo were Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesia's Ambassador to the UAE Judha Nugraha. MBZ was joined by senior officials including Vice Chairman of the Presidential Court Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei.
