Rappi surpasses eight million restaurant orders during World Cup

Rappi reported more than eight million restaurant orders during the 43 days of the World Cup. Its Turbo service averaged 65,000 daily orders with notable peaks.

The platform revealed it reached a peak of 190,000 restaurant orders in a single day, accounting for nearly 30 percent of total orders. The highest volume occurred on July 5 during the matches Brazil versus Norway and Mexico versus England.

Matías Laks, country manager of Rappi Colombia, said major sporting events activate businesses and create economic opportunities. Colombia's match dates boosted categories such as chicken wings, which grew more than 76 percent, pizza with 60 percent, and bakery items and snacks with nearly 50 percent.

Turbo saw a 35 percent increase compared with a normal day. The record of 86,000 orders took place during the Colombia versus Portugal match. When Colombia won, orders concentrated after the game; otherwise, they peaked before kickoff.
