José Manuel Restrepo, elected vice president, confirmed that new work tables between incoming ministries and North American organization representatives will begin on July 28. The agenda covers security, investment, trade, infrastructure, energy, technology and social development.
The delegation of the president-elect's government held 50 meetings in Washington with high officials, business leaders, multilaterals and investors. A meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stood out to expand bilateral trade and attract investment.
Restrepo thanked the United States for its support of the presidential transition process. He also reiterated Colombia's interest in joining the Shield of the Americas.
"We opened doors at the highest level of the United States government and presented a new vision of the country," Restrepo said. The mission's outcome was described as historic.
