Shay Mitchell joins Fox's Baywatch reboot cast

Shay Mitchell, known for her role in Pretty Little Liars, has been cast in Fox's upcoming Baywatch reboot. She will portray Trina, a former lawyer turned lifeguard. The series is set to air in the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

Shay Mitchell has joined the cast of Fox's Baywatch reboot, playing the character Trina. According to the description, Trina is a former lawyer who left a white-shoe law firm to become a full-time lifeguard. She is characterized as 'the sharpest mind on Baywatch. Passionate and dedicated, she tends to follow her heart… even if she often uses her considerable intelligence to second guess herself.'

The reboot features Stephen Amell in the lead role of Hobie Buchannon, a grown-up version of the wild child from the original series. He plays a Baywatch captain following in the footsteps of his father, Mitch, originally portrayed by David Hasselhoff. Jessica Belkin stars as Charlie Vale, Hobie's daughter who arrives unexpectedly and seeks to continue the family legacy. Other cast members include Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Brooks Nader as Selene, and Noah Beck as Luke. David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison from the original series.

Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer, with additional executive producers including pilot director McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. The series is co-produced by Fox and Fremantle. Production will take place on the beaches of Los Angeles, supported by a $21.1 million California state tax incentive.

Fox held a large casting call in February, attracting 2,000 actors for roles from extras to series regulars. Mitchell is best known for her role as Emily in the teen drama Pretty Little Liars, as well as appearances in Netflix's You and Hulu's Dollface. She is also the founder and chief creative officer of the travel and lifestyle brand Béis.
