Shift Up teases Stellar Blade ports for Xbox and Switch 2

Developer Shift Up has indicated potential ports of its 2024 PlayStation 5 hit Stellar Blade to Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, possibly arriving later this year. The move aims to broaden the game's audience and build anticipation for its sequel. The studio confirmed these plans in its latest financial report.

Stellar Blade, an action-adventure game developed by South Korean studio Shift Up and published by Sony on PlayStation 5 and PC, has sold over 3 million copies by mid-2025. The title, released in 2024, achieved significant success despite initial controversies, establishing itself as a steady, long-tail intellectual property.

In the question-and-answer section of Shift Up's recent financial report, the company revealed intentions to expand the game to platforms beyond PS5 and PC. This includes current-generation Xbox consoles, specifically Xbox Series X/S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. While not confirmed as definite, these ports are under consideration to introduce Stellar Blade to new players and generate excitement for the sequel, which is already in development but years away from release.

"This approach is expected to both introduce the title to new players and gradually build anticipation for the next chapter in the series," Shift Up stated in the report. Advances on these ports could occur as soon as later this year, aligning with broader efforts to capitalize on the game's popularity.

Separately, Shift Up is developing Project Spirits, a new flagship title to be published by Level Infinite, targeting consoles, PC, and mobile platforms. The studio's success with Stellar Blade contributed to its CEO receiving a presidential commendation in December for boosting the South Korean games industry, alongside other titles like Lies of P from Neowiz and Round8 Studio.

Whether Sony will be involved in publishing the potential new ports remains unclear, but Shift Up may handle them independently following its role in the PS5 and PC launches.
