O'Hara's win was posthumous, coming weeks after her death on January 30 at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer as the underlying cause. Rogen accepted the award on her behalf amid a standing ovation. In his tribute, Rogen praised O'Hara's generosity and talent, noting her ability to be "kind and gracious while never minimizing her own talents." He recounted how she would email rewrites for her scenes, which "one hundred percent of the time" improved the material, emphasizing that "you can be a genius and be kind."
