Three suspects killed in Durban police shootout

Three suspects were killed and two others escaped during a shootout with police at KwaBester, north of Durban, on Monday. The suspects were wanted for serious crimes including murder.

Police acted on a tip-off and traced the suspects to a house. Officers came under fire and returned shots, resulting in three fatalities. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Amanda Funani said no officers were injured.

Funani stated that the suspects, aged between 20 and 23, were wanted for murder and robberies in the area. Three firearms were recovered from the scene. Two suspects fled and police are searching for them.

The incident occurred after officers responded to information about the group’s location. Authorities confirmed the shootout took place at KwaBester.
