Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaiʻi is set to open its first store in Honolulu on March 13, following a soft opening the day before. The new location in Kaimukī emphasizes grab-and-go service with a menu of specialty drinks. It operates in partnership with the parents of NFL quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
The coffee chain Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaiʻi will launch its inaugural Honolulu outlet in the Kaimukī neighborhood on Friday, March 13, with a soft opening scheduled for the previous day. Situated at 3502-C Wai‘alae Ave., the store occupies the former space of Cricket Wireless and sits near Sushiya and Kaimukī’s Boston Pizza.
Designed primarily for quick service, the venue provides limited seating to encourage grab-and-go orders. Its menu includes hot and cold lattes, teas, cold brews, Koffee Koolers—a blended drink similar to Frappuccinos—along with lemonades and smoothies. A distinctive feature involves using ice only in energy drinks and smoothies, while iced coffees and lattes incorporate cubes made from recycled coffee, specifically the business’s 10% Kona Coffee Blend and American Roast.
Customer favorites highlighted include the caramel wave, combining caramel and vanilla flavors, and the three waves latte, which blends coconut, caramel, and macadamia nut. These preferences come from restaurateur Ted Davenport, who manages the Honolulu store alongside partners Galu and Diane Tagovailoa, parents of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Operating hours are set from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Parking options consist of limited spots in the front lot and available street parking nearby.
The opening marks an expansion for the Hawaii-based chain into the urban Honolulu market, focusing on convenient coffee options for locals.
