Apple is reportedly set to release a refreshed iPad mini with an OLED display by October. The update would mark the first major redesign since 2021.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said the new model, code-named J510, will feature an OLED screen for improved display quality. The seventh-generation iPad mini launched in 2024 with only a chip update, leaving the overall design unchanged since its 2021 overhaul.
Other iPad updates are planned further out. An entry-level model code-named J581 is expected next year with a faster processor, while new 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models (J807 and J837) are slated for spring 2027 alongside refreshed iPad Pro and Apple Pencil versions.
Recent price increases have raised the iPad mini to $599 from $499. The report notes that component costs and supply constraints could push the OLED version even higher.
