Following the March 1 closure of the Aerosmith-themed Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Disney sources point to a Memorial Day 2026 target for the Muppets retheme at Hollywood Studios. Construction is progressing swiftly on new animatronics, preshows, and theming featuring The Electric Mayhem.
Since the permanent closure of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith on March 1, 2026, work has accelerated on its transformation into a Muppets-themed thrill ride, with an internal goal of reopening over Memorial Day weekend—late May—to kick off summer. This tight timeline follows preshow preparations that began before the closure and immediate exterior changes.
Progress includes a repainted marquee limousine and a covered 40-foot Stratocaster guitar set for a Muppets redesign. The new preshow stars animatronic Scooter as G-Force Records manager under J.P. Grosse, with penguin engineers, Miss Piggy, Kermit on screens, and The Electric Mayhem. Riders will board Muppet Labs-modified limousines, racing through twisted scenery to the band's hits. Muppet*Vision 3D props may appear in the queue.
Disney's summer 2026 window provides flexibility, minimizing ride alterations to speed the return and meet fan demand.
