Carlos Alberto Parreira, 83, showed a worsening in his clinical condition on Friday, July 3, at Hospital Samaritano Barra in Rio de Janeiro.
The former Brazilian national team coach was diagnosed with pulmonary inflammation and an infectious condition that affected kidney function. He needed to be sedated again and began breathing with the aid of apparatus, in addition to starting hemodialysis sessions.
The medical bulletin stated that, although serious, Parreira is stable and dependent on intensive support. He has been in the ICU since June 16 and is being treated for Hodgkin lymphoma.
The previous week, Parreira had resumed breathing without apparatus after surgery to stop nasal bleeding on June 27.
