Gearbox Software has released the first episode of its DevCast series, featuring insights into the upcoming Bounty Pack 2 for Borderlands 4. The DLC, titled Legend of the Stone Demon, is set to launch on February 26 alongside a major update introducing Pearlescent gear. Design lead Grant Kao discussed the pack's scale, new rewards, and cosmetics during the episode.
The Gearbox DevCast is a new video series providing behind-the-scenes looks at upcoming content for Borderlands 4, with information directly from developers. In Episode 1, titled Legend of the Stone Demon, hosts Andrew Reiner, Global Creative Executive Officer at Gearbox Entertainment, and April Johnson, Associate Director of Narrative, interviewed Grant Kao, the design lead for Bounty Pack 2.
Kao covered the size and scope of the DLC, which includes new rewards and cosmetics tied to the Vault Card. The episode also previewed never-before-seen footage of The Stone Demon. Bounty Pack 2 is the second of five post-launch DLC packs, included in the Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, and Bounty Pack Bundle, or available for separate purchase with the base game required.
Coinciding with the February 26 release, a major update will add Pearlescent gear as a new rarity to Borderlands 4. This gear will be accessible to all players regardless of edition, though certain items, such as those in Bounty Pack 2, may require paid content. The update introduces three specific Pearlescent weapons: the Eigenburst Tediore Shotgun, Conflux Maliwan Sniper Rifle, and Hand Cannon Torgue Pistol—the latter needing ownership of Bounty Pack 2.
As Kao stated in the episode, "The Pearlescent rarity is here to stay, and is being added to all free content and all paid content in the future." The full video is available on the official Borderlands site, with more DevCast episodes planned to feature developer insights.
