On June 19, 2024, at the administrative center of Rognac in Bouches-du-Rhône, Sylvie Miceli-Houdais, then the town's mayor and a member of the Union des démocrates et indépendants (UDI), claims to have been assaulted by Stéphane Le Rudulier. The latter, her predecessor as mayor and an LR senator for Bouches-du-Rhône, was still a municipal councilor in her majority at that time.
In a handwritten testimony reviewed by Le Monde, Miceli-Houdais describes being strangled and struck multiple times. She initially reported the date as July 31 but later corrected it to June 19. These events are partially supported by municipal officials, who provided photos of bruises and confirmed the June 19 date.
Miceli-Houdais, who lost her position in a partial municipal election in November 2024, filed a complaint for voluntary violence on March 3 with the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence. This was done through her lawyer, Me Alain Lhote.
Reached by Le Monde, Stéphane Le Rudulier denied any violence against Sylvie Miceli-Houdais. He described the accusations as « political vengeance ».
