Mike Johnson raises record funds for House Republicans

House Speaker Mike Johnson announced a second-quarter fundraising total of $19.1 million, bringing his yearly hard-dollar haul past $53 million. Over the current election cycle, he has collected $135 million, a record for any Republican congressional leader.

Johnson has generated more than $200 million since becoming speaker two and a half years ago. His endorsed super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund, holds hundreds of millions in additional funds.

He has distributed $80 million to party efforts, including $38 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee, $21 million to protect incumbents, and $3.9 million to challengers.

Republicans hold a 218-212 majority with four vacancies. Recent polls from Echelon, YouGov, and Morning Consult show Democrats leading by two to six points. Sixty-eight lawmakers have announced retirements, including 36 Republicans and 22 Democrats.

Johnson said House Republicans are united and well-funded to win the midterms.
