President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Gajayana Stadium in Malang around 06:50 WIB on Sunday, February 8, 2026, accompanied by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa. His presence was met with enthusiasm by thousands of Nahdliyin who had filled the stadium since early morning, accompanied by the chant of Thola'al Badru Alaina sholawat. Prabowo walked to the front rows to shake hands with participants, including mothers who waved and prayed.
The Mujahadah Kubro event marked the peak of Nahdlatul Ulama's 100th birthday celebration, organized by the East Java NU Branch on February 7-8, 2026. It was estimated to be attended by 105,000 people, including 77,541 members from East Java NU Branches and 27,000 Muslimat NU members, arriving via 1,183 buses, 6,465 cars, and 5,413 motorcycles. Also present were members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, such as Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, and charismatic ulama.
In his speech, Prabowo expressed commitment to lowering hajj costs by building a Kampung Haji in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, utilizing land owned by Indonesia. "Later, all pilgrims are guaranteed decent housing, a good place. No need to doubt anymore, no more issues. The service will be the best and I am determined to lower the hajj costs for the Indonesian people," he said. He targeted completion within three years, with about 1,000 rooms in the coming months, to provide proper facilities for hajj and umrah pilgrims.
The series of events began on January 7, 2026, with a pesantren seminar at Islamic University of Malang, followed by visits and other activities through February. Prabowo's attendance symbolized synergy between the government and NU in maintaining social stability and national progress.
