Rev. Kristilere and wife celebrate 29 years of marriage with book launch

Rev. Israel Kristilere, lead pastor of Shepherdhill Baptist Church, and his wife, Pastor Mary Kristilere, marked their 29th wedding anniversary with a thanksgiving service and the launch of two books. The couple, married since March 1, 1997, reflected on challenges and faith that sustained their union. The event highlighted themes of forgiveness, commitment, and spiritual growth.

The thanksgiving service took place on March 8, 2026, gathering family, friends, and church members to honor the Kristilieres' marital journey. Pastor Mary Kristilere spoke of the gratitude she felt after nearly three decades together, emphasizing God's faithfulness amid difficulties.

"Celebrating 29 years of marriage fills my heart with gratitude. It is not because our journey was smooth, but because God has been faithful," she said. She described the first decade as particularly challenging, marked by misunderstandings, communication gaps, and emotional struggles.

"There were tears, there were prayers, and there were difficult seasons. We had to learn real forgiveness — daily forgiveness — the kind that costs you something," Pastor Mary added. Over time, patience, forgiveness, and intentional communication helped rebuild their trust, with faith serving as the core foundation. "When our strength failed, God became the third cord that held us together," she noted, advising other couples to persevere through commitment and forgiveness.

As part of the celebration, Pastor Mary launched two books born from years of reflection and ministry. The first, "Owning Your Season: A 30-Day Devotional for Singles," aims to guide unmarried individuals in discovering their identity and purpose independent of marital status. She observed that many tie their sense of worth to marriage, but purpose exists beyond it.

The second book, "Your Daily Inspirational Dose," compiles faith-based reflections she shared on social media since 2016. Publication was spurred by reader feedback, including one instance where a message helped a woman avert suicidal thoughts. "That moment made me realise that these messages needed to reach more people beyond social media," Pastor Mary said.

Rev. Israel Kristilere described their marriage as sustained by divine grace and intentional effort. "God did not design marriage for suffering. His intention is for couples to enjoy it. But a successful marriage will not happen by chance; it happens by choice," he stated. He stressed investing through commitment, patience, forgiveness, and maturity, while underscoring deliberate parenting to raise children reflecting godly values.

The service included worship, prayers, and readings from 1 John 4:7–12, focusing on love in Christian life and marriage. It ended with prayers for couples and families, portraying the Kristilieres as an example of enduring faith and commitment.
