Building on the first trailer debuted during the January 25 Nintendo Direct—which showcased Yoshi, Birdo, and other characters from Super Mario Galaxy, Odyssey, and classics—The Super Mario Bros. Galaxy Movie unveiled its second trailer during the Super Bowl LX broadcast on NBC.
Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel, the sequel draws from the 2007 Nintendo game Super Mario Galaxy, with Mario and allies saving Princess Peach aided by Princess Rosalina. Key returning voices include Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek), joined by Brie Larson (Rosalina) and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr.). Co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, with producers Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto, it follows the 2023 film's $1.36 billion global success.
The film arrives in U.S. cinemas on April 3, 2026 (Japan April 24), after earlier plans were adjusted to April 1 in most markets. Announced in March 2024, the project capitalizes on the franchise's popularity.
