President Lee Jae Myung will begin a five-nation trip on Friday, starting with San Francisco before traveling to Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Germany.

The presidential office said Wednesday that Lee will arrive in San Francisco on Friday for a two-day stay and meet the heads of global tech firms, including OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman and Nvidia Chief Jensen Huang.

The meetings will also include heads of South Korean conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung. Participants are set to discuss the administration's megaprojects for a semiconductor production cluster and AI-related facilities, and Lee will issue a San Francisco AI declaration.

From Sunday through next Wednesday, Lee will make a state visit to Brazil for a summit with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, followed by visits to Chile and Argentina through Aug. 1 to meet their leaders, President Jose Antonio Kast and President Javier Milei. He will conclude the trip in Frankfurt, Germany, where he will meet South Korean residents before returning home on Aug. 3.
