Euphotic Labs has introduced the Nosh One, an AI-powered robotic chef designed to prepare meals from user-supplied ingredients. The device, developed over seven years, offers over 500 recipes across more than 11 international cuisines. It aims to simplify cooking for busy professionals by automating timing, stirring, and ingredient addition.
The Nosh One robotic chef comes from Euphotic Labs, a team of engineers based in India who describe themselves as enthusiasts of food and time-saving innovations. After seven years of design and testing, including over 1,500 meals prepared in 65 user trials, the device is now available on Kickstarter.
This countertop appliance measures 20.6 inches wide by 16.7 inches high and 22.2 inches deep, weighing 57 pounds. It features six ultra-precision motors and ceramic heating technology for consistent cooking. An AI-enhanced camera monitors color, texture, and moisture levels, allowing the robot to adjust heat, stir, and add ingredients automatically. Users can customize settings for flavor intensity, texture, and spice levels through an accompanying app.
The unit includes eight spice containers, each holding 100cc with 1/4-teaspoon accuracy, five slots for up to 85 ounces of ingredients per slot—sufficient for four adult servings—and a 135-ounce ceramic pan. Oil and water dispensers provide precise measurements, with 33 ounces for oil and 60 ounces for water. Exhaust is carbon-filtered and vented to the side to reduce odors.
Cleanup is straightforward: daily wiping of the chamber or a monthly self-cleaning cycle for internal hoses. Removable parts like the spice tray and pan are dishwasher-safe. The Nosh app enables recipe selection from over 500 dishes, remote scheduling, and preference learning over time, with notifications for spice refills every 10 days or so.
Limitations include inability to handle flipping tasks, such as for roti, pancakes, or whole fish, and potential bacterial risks if meat is left unrefrigerated for delayed cooking. Pledges start at $1,499 on Kickstarter, including a lifetime app subscription valued at $180 annually, with a planned retail price of $2,000. Delivery is scheduled for later this year in the US and Canada.
