A Utah judge on Friday delayed ruling on whether Tyler Robinson will stand trial for the murder of Charlie Kirk. The decision extends the case nearly a year after the conservative activist was fatally shot at Utah Valley University.

Judge Tony Graf ordered attorneys to submit additional arguments by September 1 before deciding if prosecutors have presented enough evidence. The move came after five days of testimony in the preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors presented surveillance footage, forensic evidence, testimony from Robinson’s roommate and parents, and an alleged confession note. Jurors also viewed enhanced rooftop surveillance footage and heard from a forensic biologist who examined the murder weapon and bullets engraved with messages including “Hey fascist! Catch!”

A bullet fragment recovered from Kirk’s body was displayed in court. Ballistics tests by the ATF were inconclusive. The Kirk family issued a statement thanking supporters and calling the hearing an important step toward justice.

Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany criticized the delay as “mind-blowing” and said the family is being denied speedy justice under Utah law.

In remarks first delivered in February, Jennings told an audience that the attempt to kill the conservative activist only amplified his message of faith and freedom.
