Polri estimates about 143 million people, or 50 percent of Indonesia's population, will travel for Idul Fitri 2026. Wakapolri General Dedi Prasetyo stated that Polri will deploy over 161,000 personnel, alongside TNI for a total of 389,681, in Operation Ketupat to secure mudik flows.
Polri and TNI are deploying 389,681 combined personnel for Operation Ketupat 2026 to ensure smooth Idul Fitri mudik across Indonesia. Wakapolri General Dedi Prasetyo stated that the peak mudik flow is expected on March 14, 2026. "Hundreds of thousands of personnel will be placed at various strategic points to anticipate traffic jams, traffic accidents, and potential security disturbances during the mudik period until the Idul Fitri celebration," Dedi said at Polri Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (March 11, 2026).
Polri is preparing over 161,000 personnel, with the establishment of 2,746 security posts consisting of 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts. These posts are spread across main mudik routes, rest areas, terminals, stations, ports, airports, tourist areas, and places of worship. To manage traffic, Polri is implementing conventional engineering such as one way and contra flow.
Polri's Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Jhonny Eddizon Isir added that the operation runs until March 25, 2026, with possible extension to March 28. Personnel are focused on securing 185,544 objects, including 121 mosques, 54,516 Idul Fitri prayer locations, 4,640 tourist sites, 2,962 shopping centers, 618 terminals, 562 ports, 268 train stations, and 182 airports.
Additionally, Polri is enhancing the 110 emergency service for quick responses to accidents or security issues during mudik. "We want to ensure that the presence of police can be felt right in the palm of your hand through the 110 service," Dedi said during a press conference at the KSP Office on March 11, 2026. Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno emphasized the importance of integrating public services across ministries for successful national mudik management.
