Senate approves move of Abelardo de la Espriella inauguration to Cauca

Colombia's Senate approved on Wednesday, July 22, the relocation of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella's inauguration ceremony, set for August 7.

The ceremony, originally scheduled at the National Capitol in Bogotá, will move to the Cauca department. The exact location within the region has not yet been set.

The president-elect had requested the event take place at a military or police barracks. The proposition approved by senators neither specifies nor rules out that option.

For the change to become official, approval from the House of Representatives is still required during the solemn session before the full Congress.
