Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi oversaw the swearing-in ceremony for newly appointed governors and deputy governors on Monday at the presidential headquarters in Cairo. The event was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad. Al-Sisi emphasized strengthening local administration through improved public services and efficient resource use.
At the presidential headquarters in Cairo, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi oversaw the constitutional oath-taking ceremony for several newly appointed governors and deputy governors, according to a presidential statement. This appointment comes as part of efforts to bolster local governance and administration across Egypt's provinces.
Following the oaths, Al-Sisi met with the new officials and stressed the need for tangible improvements in public services. He urged efficient utilization of local resources and direct communication with citizens to address complaints quickly and effectively. The president also highlighted transparency in administrative performance, better coordination with central government bodies, and increased cooperation with investors to foster local development.
Per the presidency, Al-Sisi called on governors to prioritize key service sectors such as water, sanitation, electricity, education, and housing projects. He further encouraged accelerating the implementation of projects under the “Decent Life” rural development initiative, aimed at upgrading infrastructure and living standards in villages across the country. In addition, he emphasized stricter enforcement against illegal construction on agricultural land, enhanced urban planning mechanisms, and intensified efforts to promote tourism in relevant governorates.
Al-Sisi noted that effective local governance is crucial for supporting national stability and driving economic growth.
