Chicago Fed index shows modest economic growth in June

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index rose to -0.02 in June from -0.19 in May. The three-month moving average also improved to -0.05 from -0.10.

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index, a composite of 85 monthly indicators, increased in June. One of the four broad categories of indicators decreased from May while two categories made negative contributions.

The index's three-month moving average, known as CFNAI-MA3, rose to -0.05 in June from -0.10 in May. The measure is designed to gauge overall economic activity and related inflationary pressure.

The data covers the period ending in June and was compiled by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
