A fire broke out at SilverStar Brewing Co. in Vernon early on February 24, 2026, forcing the business to shut down temporarily. The incident, deemed suspicious, is under investigation by the RCMP. Owner Pardeep Jaswal expressed determination to rebuild and maintain beer availability.
SilverStar Brewing Co., located in the 2900 block of 30th Avenue in downtown Vernon, British Columbia, was struck by a fire around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from the roof, and the blaze led to the temporary closure of the brewpub.
Owner Pardeep Jaswal, known as PJ, addressed the incident in a social media post on February 25. "The last little while has been tough for our entire team," Jaswal wrote. "A fire has forced us to close the brewpub temporarily, and it’s been hard seeing a place we care so deeply about take a hit like this."
Jaswal outlined the brewery's immediate priorities: "Right now, our focus is on rebuilding and getting the brewpub open again as soon as possible. At the same time, we’re actively working on alternative brewing and canning options so SilverStar beer can still be available through the spring and summer."
The RCMP has classified the fire as suspicious and is conducting an arson investigation, gathering evidence from the scene. Jaswal thanked the Vernon Fire Rescue and RCMP for their response, noting they "ensur[ed] the safety of the community while risking their well being to stop the fire."
The brewery conveyed optimism in its statement: "We’ll miss you for now, but this is only a setback. We’ll be back." Jaswal also expressed gratitude to the community: "Thank you for standing with us. We’ll continue to share updates as we have them."
No injuries were reported in the incident.
