Hartford men's track and field places 26th at New England championships

The University of Hartford men's indoor track and field team competed at the NCAA Division III New England Championship in Boston, finishing 26th out of 30 scoring teams. Freshman Jason Edmund broke the school record in the 60-meter dash, securing seventh place in the finals. Other highlights included performances in field events and the 4x800-meter relay.

The University of Hartford Hawks men's indoor track and field team participated in the NCAA Division III New England Championship on Sunday at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts. The team placed 26th among 30 scoring teams, marking a competitive showing in the regional meet.

In the sprints, freshman Jason Edmund from Brooklyn, New York, delivered a standout performance in the 60-meter dash. He broke the school record with a time of 6.91 seconds in the prelims, earning a spot in the finals where he finished seventh at 6.94 seconds. Reflecting on his debut indoor season, Edmund said, "It was an amazing experience being that I'm just a freshman competing in indoor track for the first time. I look forward to improving more for the upcoming outdoor season."

Field events saw contributions from sophomore Aidan Lybarger of South Burlington, Vermont, who threw 15.40 meters to place 14th in the weight throw. Junior William Pavlinsky from New Milford, Connecticut, recorded 14.62 meters for 18th in the weight throw and 13.98 meters for 13th in the shot put. Freshman Julius Lowe-Wannamaker of Springfield, Massachusetts, jumped 6.22 meters to finish 20th in the long jump.

The men's 4x800-meter relay team rounded out the efforts with an 11th-place finish at 8:06.02.

Looking ahead, the Hawks await potential qualifiers for nationals in Birmingham, Alabama. If none advance, the team will take a break before transitioning to the outdoor season.
