I was just patiently waiting for that chance and had that belief that I can still do it -- and I did it."
Mboko's run was impressive, guaranteeing her entry into the WTA top 10 for the first time. The 19-year-old, who started 2025 outside the top 300, defeated top-10 players Mirra Andreeva and Rybakina (7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals), plus Ostapenko in the semifinals. "She has a pretty all-around game," Mboko said of Muchova. "She can play offense, defense, and she can slice and change things up, so it really caught me off guard."
Muchova praised her opponent: "You’re still a teenager... and you play with so much maturity, and you play incredible. It’s been an incredible week for you. I’m sure you have many titles ahead of you." Both players lead the tour in match wins this year, with Mboko at 13 and Muchova at 12. Muchova will rise to No. 11 in the rankings, while Mboko enters the top 10 at No. 10. Muchova has withdrawn from the upcoming Dubai Championships, while Mboko is seeded 11th there.
