Paxton overcame an earlier deficit from the March primary to win by a wide margin. Decision Desk HQ called the race at 8 p.m. central time with Paxton leading by 25 points after 57 percent of votes were counted. Trump endorsed Paxton one week before the runoff, citing the senator's past positions on issues like the filibuster and the SAVE America Act.
