The move could mark a major overhaul of ministers and is aimed at refreshing her cabinet's image amid falling support rates in recent opinion polls.
A lawmaker from the Japan Innovation Party, the junior coalition partner, is likely to take a ministerial position. Takashi Endo of the JIP currently serves as a special adviser to the prime minister.
The two parties reached a coalition deal in October last year. Takaichi's commitment to the deal has led to parliamentary deadlock as the opposition resisted bills sought by the JIP.
Whether Takaichi will retain rivals from last year's LDP leadership race, such as Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, will also be closely watched.
