India Vision Institute conducted a three-day vision screening campaign at Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai, benefiting 486 inmates including women.
The screenings took place on July 24, 25 and 27 through the institute’s Mobile Eye Health Unit. They were supported by Five-Star Business Finance Limited.
The initiative screened inmates for vision problems and identified those requiring corrective spectacles or further medical examination.
Deputy Inspector General of Prisons D. Pazhani, Puzhal Prison Superintendent Krishna Kumar and Sivaramakrishnan Lakshmanan, CSR Manager at Five-Star Business Finance Limited, visited the camp.
Vinod Daniel, Chief Executive Officer of India Vision Institute, said the initiative helped bring primary eye care to underserved communities including correctional institutions.
