Brazil's Marlon Modolo Zanotelli claimed victory in the CSI5*–CHI Al Shaqab Grand Prix presented by Longines, riding Charly Heart to top the field in Doha. The win capped four days of equestrian action at Al Shaqab on Saturday night. Other competitions in show jumping, dressage and para-dressage also saw strong international performances.
Brazil’s Marlon Modolo Zanotelli topped a competitive field to win the CSI5*–CHI Al Shaqab Grand Prix presented by Longines, bringing four days of thrilling action at Al Shaqab to a close on Saturday night. At the Longines Outdoor Arena, Zanotelli and his 10-year-old mare Charly Heart cleared the first round in 77.51 seconds. In the jump-off, where 11 of the 42 starters advanced, they clocked 36.65 seconds to secure the title and €172,500.
Belgium’s Pieter Devos finished second aboard Casual DV with 37.84 seconds, earning €115,000. Lebanon’s Roger Chammas took third with Glondon Di San Giovanni in 39.64 seconds, receiving €86,250. HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia and the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, crowned the podium winners.
The CHI Al Shaqab was the sixth leg of the 10-round Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, with prize money exceeding €1.3m. In the CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix Jump-Off, Switzerland’s Nadja Peter Steiner won with 35.54 seconds, followed by Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt on Mastermind RL in 36.14 seconds and Britain’s Sienna Charles on Stardust in 36.95 seconds.
The CSI1* 1.30 Grand Prix Jump-Off featured an all-Qatari podium: Khalid Jassim Al Suwaidi on E.T’s Queeny Z won in 33.20 seconds, Mohammed Eisa Al Bukhari on Lisa Perina F took second in 33.71 seconds, and Hamad Nasser Al Qadi on Happy Tina placed third in 34.02 seconds.
In dressage, Britain’s Carl Hester won the CDI5* CHI Al Shaqab Grand Prix Freestyle aboard Fame with 82.975, ahead of Denmark’s Nadja Aaboe Sloth on Favour Gersdorf (80.915) and Poland’s Sandra Sysojeva on Maxima Bella (79.345). Germany’s Leonie Laugks topped the CDI5* Grand Prix Special on Sternenwanderer with 64.383.
Para-dressage highlights included USA’s Kate Shoemaker winning Grade IV on Jagger, Sweden’s Lena Malmström taking Grade V on Fabulous Fidelie, USA’s Fiona Howard securing Grade II on Ferguston, and Italy’s Francesca Salvade’ claiming Grade III on Escari.
Khalifa Al Attiyah, Executive Director of the Doha Equestrian Tour 2026, praised the 13th Al Shaqab International Championship for its high level of skill, exceptional public turnout and diverse competitions in show jumping, dressage and para-dressage. He noted the four-day format allowed more opportunities for fans to enjoy the atmosphere and performances.
