Several local governments in Luzon suspended classes on Monday, July 13, as rains from the southwest monsoon persisted across multiple provinces.
The southwest monsoon, or habagat, continued to affect parts of Luzon, prompting class suspensions in numerous areas. In Zambales, the municipalities of San Marcelino, Sta. Cruz, Candelaria, Subic, Castillejos, San Antonio, San Narciso, San Felipe, Cabangan, Botolan, Masinloc, Palauig, Iba, and Olongapo City all suspended face-to-face classes at various levels.
Additional suspensions were announced in Bulacan towns including Hagonoy until Friday, July 17, as well as in Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, and select areas of Rizal. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued a heavy rainfall outlook for Zambales, forecasting 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.
Authorities advised residents to stay alert for possible flooding and landslides while monitoring updates. No gale warnings were in effect, though caution was urged for moderate to rough seas along northern and western seaboards.
