The announcement of The Kids from S.I.P.P.Y. highlights Hulu's active expansion in animated content. Produced under 20th Television Animation, the series centers on three misfit high school freshmen who join a covert spy academy. Writers and executive producers Branson Reese and Nicole Silverberg lead the project, with additional executive producers Steven Fisher and Trevor Engelson from Underground, Patrick Newman from Mosaic, and Tovah Silbermann.

This development aligns with Hulu's recent animation initiatives. The streamer recently ordered Deano, a half-hour adult animated comedy created by Dean Thomas and David Ferrier, with Bluey creator Joe Brumm as an executive producer. Hulu also announced Swap Meet, another half-hour animated comedy starring and executive produced by Ralph Barbosa, alongside writer Isaac Gonzalez.

Branson Reese, based in Los Angeles and originally from Washington, D.C., brings experience from various projects. He created and starred in the FX cartoon Swan Boy, adapted from his comic, and voices Frank Lloyd Light in PBS Kids' City Island. Reese serves as supervising producer on Netflix's Strip Law, where he also voices characters, and has written for We Bare Bears and Oh My God Yes. He co-created the D&D podcast Rude Tales of Magic and authored the comics collection Hell Was Full.

Nicole Silverberg, an Emmy-nominated and WGA Award-winning writer from Tucson, Arizona, has a strong comedy background. She developed a project at NBC with The Lonely Island and created the Netflix animated comedy Bad Crimes, produced by Greg Daniels and Mike Judge. Silverberg was a supervising writer on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, earning a GLAAD Award, and served as a longtime editor at the satirical site Reductress.

Underground, involved in production, recently unveiled Netflix's Strip Law and is developing Anchivo Motors, an adult animated comedy by Brett Cawley and Robert Maitia. Reese is represented by WME, Mosaic, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, while Silverberg is repped by Underground and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
