On Friday evening, February 13, 2026, an alarm was raised just before 7:30 p.m. about a fire in a villa at Bråvikskusten in Norrköping. According to rescue services and police, the fire started on the veranda during an ongoing children's party and quickly spread to the main house.
– It may involve a gas cylinder that exploded on the veranda. It's a fully developed fire, but nothing indicates that anyone is still in the house or has been injured, says Olle Älvroth, police spokesperson.
A large rescue operation with multiple units was underway at the scene. Rescue services reported that the villa could not be saved, but they managed to salvage some personal belongings. Efforts continued to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.
– There are open flames, says Jonas Penton, alarm and operations officer at the rescue service.
There were many people at the scene when the fire broke out, but all were gathered at a nearby assembly point. Everyone was checked by medical personnel, and no one sustained physical injuries. Police have opened a preliminary investigation but currently see no suspicion of crime.
– We have set up an assembly point and gathered everyone there. There is no suspicion of crime, says Olle Älvroth.
The incident is under further investigation to clarify the exact cause.
