The construction of 100,000 housing units planned for the 2018 budget year in Addis Ababa is progressing with speed and quality, as stated by the city's Housing Development Agency (KNTBA ABBB). In particular, houses in areas such as Gerji, Tulu Dimtu, Gelan Gura, Akaki Qality, and the Nifas Silk Lafto market center have reached advanced stages. Providing residential housing to citizens remains a key priority for the administration.

KNTBA noted the high demand for housing in Medinawa and efforts to address the issue day and night. An inspection of 17 sites from Malada to Qeter revealed that 97,000 units are under promising construction. Although projects began 6 to 7 months ago, they have advanced due to a 24/7 work culture, Ethiopian contractors, societies, supervisors, and modern technology.

The initiative creates job opportunities for over 200,000 people. The units incorporate quality, health, beauty, and modern design, with collaboration from Addis Ababa Science and Technology University. Of the total, 50,000 are financed by the city budget, while the remaining 50,000 involve government and private partnerships.

Over the past five years, more than 434,000 houses have been built in the city, and neighboring residents will receive priority. KNTBA emphasized that this work sustainably continues to resolve the housing shortage.
