Bay-Con convention returns to Escanaba for fifth year

The fifth annual Bay-Con event will take place over two days at Bay College in Escanaba, Michigan, on May 1 and 2. Organized to celebrate pop culture, the convention features vendors, gaming, cosplay, and celebrity guests. Tickets are now available for purchase online.

Bay-Con, a pop culture convention founded by Dave Laur, is set to hold its fifth edition as a two-day event at Bay College in Escanaba on May 1-2. The gathering aims to evoke nostalgia through activities centered on toys, video games, music, movies, and related elements.

Laur described the event as an opportunity to "travel back in time to visit your childhood," adding that Bay-Con offers "an amazing trip down memory lane that explores and celebrates pop culture, including toys, video games, music, movies and so much more."

The schedule includes a "Friday Night Geek Fight" on May 1, with laser tag, Magic the Gathering, tabletop RPG gaming, video game and pinball tournaments, a vendor hall, and appearances by special guests. On May 2, attendees can expect vendors, guest interactions, a cosplay contest, trivia contests, and additional family-oriented activities. The vendor space will offer items such as toys, vinyl records, and original artwork, complemented by food trucks and vintage video gaming stations featuring systems like Atari, Nintendo, and Sega.

This year's special guests include Carla Perez, Jason Moore, Alejandra Reynoso, and Andre Sogliuzzo. The event is sponsored by Bay College's Campus Activities Board and Gaming Galaxy student organizations, along with local businesses, serving as a fundraiser for the college's student groups and athletic teams who help staff the convention.

Single-day tickets cost $5, while two-day passes are $7, with free admission for children aged 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased via the Bay College website at www.baycollege.edu/about/events/bay-con.php, and updates are available on the Bay-Con Facebook event page.
