Neil Young has announced the cancellation of his planned 2026 summer tour across the UK and Europe with his band Chrome Hearts, citing the need for a break. In a message on his website, the rock legend expressed regret to fans who purchased tickets. The decision follows a series of recent political statements by Young regarding U.S. policy toward Greenland.
Neil Young, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, revealed on February 6, 2026, via the Neil Young Archives website that he is canceling his entire 2026 European tour. "I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time," he wrote. "Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well."
The tour was scheduled to begin on June 17 at Cornwall’s Eden Sessions in Bodelva, England, followed by shows at Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 19, the inaugural State Fayre Festival in Chelmsford on June 27, Glasgow Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park on June 29, Blenheim Palace Festival in Oxford on July 3, and Cardiff’s Blackweir Fields on July 5. It would then continue through Europe, concluding on July 26 in Udine, Italy. Elvis Costello and the Imposters were set to open on select dates.
Young’s Chrome Hearts band features guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony LoGerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham. The group formed in September 2024 at Farm Aid in Saratoga Springs, New York, and toured Europe and North America the previous year, with their last performance at the Painted Turtle benefit concert in October. This cancellation comes after Young’s Crazy Horse tour was halted due to illness among band members.
The announcement follows an active period for Young, including headlining Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and BST Hyde Park in 2025. Recently, he pledged free access to his 62-year music catalog for Greenland residents in response to President Donald Trump’s threats to annex the territory. "I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government," Young stated. "It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality. This is an offer of Peace and Love."
Young also criticized companies like Apple, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Amazon for supporting the Trump administration, leading him to remove his music from Amazon Music last autumn. Ticket holders will receive full refunds, as confirmed by venues like Eden Sessions.
