Nintendo considering OLED version of Switch 2

Reports from Korean sources indicate Nintendo is exploring an OLED model for the Switch 2. The potential upgrade remains in early discussion stages with no firm decisions made.

ZDNet Korea reported that three sources told the outlet Nintendo is considering development of a Switch 2 OLED edition. The screen would maintain the console's existing 1080p FHD resolution and could be supplied by Samsung Display.

Talks are described as serious but preliminary. Product development could begin at the end of 2026 if plans advance, with production not expected before the end of 2027 and a possible release in 2028.

The reports note that an OLED panel could address issues such as LCD delay, ghosting, and HDR support on the current model. No details on pricing or screen size have been confirmed.
