Ombudsman files graft charges against Discayas over Bulacan flood project

The Office of the Ombudsman has filed malversation and graft charges before the Malolos Trial Court against contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya and nine others over a P53.9 million flood control project in Calumpit, Bulacan.

The charges target an allegedly anomalous rehabilitation of a river construction structure along Bulusan in Calumpit, Bulacan. Eight officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office and one executive from St. Timothy Construction Company were also named in the complaint. Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said the investigation established that the accused officials allowed the contractor to take possession of and misappropriate the funds. The case involves both graft and corruption as well as malversation of public funds.
