Tiger Woods hinted at ongoing evaluations during his press conference, while Lucas Glover was elected chair of the 2026 Player Advisory Council.
The discussions took place at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, during the 2026 Genesis Invitational. On Tuesday night, players gathered informally to explore the future of the PGA Tour schedule and the timing for announcing a new calendar.
Tiger Woods, hosting the tournament, addressed reporters and provided updates on his health and the tour's planning. He stated he has not ruled out competing in the Masters in two months, noting he is hitting full shots, though not effectively, and that his ruptured Achilles no longer causes issues. Woods discussed challenges from back surgeries, including a fused back and recent disc replacement, and mentioned turning 50 has prompted thoughts about using a cart on the Champions Tour, though he opposes it on the main tour.
Regarding schedule changes, Woods indicated Riviera could play a key role. He suggested the Genesis Invitational might move to the fall to integrate with the FedEx Cup playoffs. "We’re looking at everything," Woods said. "Some things that we’ve taken a look at we’ve nixed off the table and there’s other opportunities that have grown and we’ve flushed out. As I said, the player directors have been unbelievable trying to figure all this out because we represent the player body and we’re trying to create the best product we possibly can for all our partners and fans and everyone who’s involved."
He added, "Whatever that looks like, whether it’s us staying here in southern California, whether it’s us staying here at this time and date or us moving to August or some other time, we’re looking at everything. It changes day-to-day, so if you ask me tomorrow, that might change."
Additionally, Lucas Glover was elected as chair of the 2026 Player Advisory Council, underscoring player involvement in shaping the tour's direction. Questions remain about the 2027 season start, potentially before or after Super Bowl Sunday.
