The tragic incident occurred on Friday, February 6, 2026, around 11:50 local time on South Bridge Road, near the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Singapore's Chinatown. The Indonesian family was on vacation when Sheyna Lashira, 6, and her mother, Raisha Anindra, 31, were crossing the street. Sheyna's father walked ahead, pushing a stroller with their 2-year-old sibling.
A dark BYD car exited a parking area and turned right, striking them. According to an eyewitness, the 38-year-old female Singaporean driver only looked left and failed to notice pedestrians on the right. "The woman was driving out of the parking lot. She didn't see the pedestrians on her right. She only looked left when she turned right," a witness posted on Facebook.
The front wheel hit Sheyna's stomach first, dragging her under the vehicle with severe bleeding. The car stopped a few meters away. Sheyna's father carried her bloodied body, crying for help, while bystanders sheltered the victims from rain with umbrellas. The driver emerged in panic and tried to defend herself, claiming she was not at fault.
Indonesia's Embassy in Singapore provided full support to the family. Sheyna's body was repatriated to Indonesia on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 06:50 WIB, and buried the same day at TPU Tanah Kusir in Jakarta. Raisha remains in intensive care. Singapore Police Force arrested the driver for careless driving causing death, with the investigation ongoing. The driver's husband stated she was picking up their 6-year-old child at the time.
