Trey Miguel reveals WWE pulled his 2020 offer

Trey Miguel disclosed in a recent interview that WWE withdrew a job offer he had received in 2020 to join alongside Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz. This incident mirrors his later release from All Elite Wrestling due to a controversial social media post. Miguel credits Alex Shelley for encouraging him to continue his wrestling career.

Trey Miguel, currently the TNA International Champion, returned to TNA Wrestling after concluding his time with the promotion in late 2025. He had been set to join All Elite Wrestling (AEW) with fellow Rascalz members Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed, but was released before their on-screen debut. The release stemmed from a homophobic social media post Miguel made in 2020, for which he issued an immediate apology.

In an interview with Johnny I Pro Show, Miguel shared a similar experience from 2020 involving WWE. He stated that he was supposed to join WWE with Xavier and Wentz but received news that the offer had been pulled. Contrary to some beliefs, Miguel emphasized that he did not choose to stay behind; he wanted to remain with his group. The development left him wanting to quit wrestling, feeling embarrassed after TNA's farewell.

Miguel recounted his emotional struggle: "When Dez and Zach originally went to NXT, and I stayed at TNA, it was so hard. I remember when I got the news that I would not be going; contrary to popular belief, people think that that was a decision that I made. I did not make that decision. I wanted to go with my brothers. We did not wanna break this band up. But, I had the offer, and it was gone, and I wanted to quit."

Alex Shelley, who had been tasked by Don Callis to mentor The Rascalz, became a key supporter. In January 2021, Shelley told Miguel, "I’m not letting you quit. It’s time that we get to work and make you undeniable." Miguel credits Shelley for his persistence in the industry, noting, "Man, I wouldn’t be having this conversation with you right now if it weren’t for Alex Shelley."

Later, through the TNA-NXT partnership, Miguel, Wentz, and Xavier collaborated on-screen in WWE. The interview highlights the challenges Miguel faced in maintaining his career trajectory despite setbacks.
