The Western Cape High Court has sentenced a 42-year-old man to five life terms and 78 additional years in prison without parole for multiple sexual offences against minors.
The man was convicted of offences committed between July and September 2022. These involved minors aged between nine and 18 years. Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala stated that the man faced five counts of rape, two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, child pornography, grooming and contravention of the Film and Publication Act. The presiding officer declared the man dangerous and a paedophile before imposing the sentence.
