Egyptian companies account for 63% of apparel export structure

Egyptian companies have maintained a dominant position in the nation's ready-made garment export structure, holding a 62-63% share of total exports. Foreign companies operating in Egypt account for 37-38%. These figures underscore the vital role of local manufacturers in driving export growth.

The ready-made garment sector has seen significant growth in exporter composition and performance between 2023 and 2025, driven by unprecedented local investment expansion and foreign firms' contributions to production capacity and global competitiveness.

The total number of exporting companies rose from 960 in 2023 to 1,266 in 2025, a cumulative 32% growth over two years, reflecting increased entry of Egyptian businesses into international markets. According to data from the Apparel Export Council of Egypt, Egyptian companies experienced the most substantial increase, from 867 to 1,160, a 34% rise, highlighting expanded local production capabilities and better access to global buyers.

Foreign companies also grew, from 93 to 106 exporters, an increase of 14%, indicating ongoing investor confidence in the Egyptian market. In export performance, Egyptian firms achieved strong gains, with values climbing from $1.07 billion in 2023 to $1.60 billion in 2025, a 50% cumulative growth.

Foreign companies mirrored this, with exports rising from $655 million to $979 million over the same period, also 50%. The stable export structure, with Egyptian companies consistently over 60% of the total, demonstrates strong complementarity between local and foreign investments, reinforcing Egypt's role as a reliable and competitive hub for ready-made garments in global markets.
